Ordering & shipping
How much is shipping?
Shipping is free. Every order ships by FedEx anywhere in the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, with no shipping charge at checkout.
How fast will my order arrive?
Orders are typically processed within 1 business day. Most orders arrive about 3 business days after they ship; Alaska, Hawaii and rural areas can take longer. You get tracking by e-mail when it ships.
How does a mattress arrive?
Compressed and rolled in a box. Unbox it where it will live, cut the plastic with scissors (no razor blades), and give it up to 72 hours to fully expand. You can sleep on it the first night.
Do you offer White Glove delivery and setup?
On select items, yes. Text or call John at 805-617-6878 for a quote before you order.
Do you charge sales tax?
Where sales tax applies, it is calculated at checkout from your shipping address and shown before you pay.
Returns & warranty
Can I return a mattress if I don’t like the feel?
No. All sales are final: no returns, refunds or exchanges for comfort, size or a change of mind. That is part of how we keep prices low. Please text or call John before you buy if you are unsure, or use our Help me choose form. He would rather talk you out of the wrong mattress than sell it to you.
What if something arrives damaged or defective?
Contact us within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and photos (box and product). Manufacturer defects covered by the limited warranty are repaired or replaced at the manufacturer’s choice.
What warranty do I get?
Mattresses: 10-year limited. Adjustable bases: 10-year limited (full coverage in year 1, motor 2 years, parts years 2–5, prorated years 6–10). Pillows: 3-year limited (Essentials Dual Air-Foam: 1 year). Mattress and pillow protectors: 5-year limited. Bed frames and foundations: 1-year limited. See the Warranty page for details.
Do I need a mattress protector to keep my warranty?
No, but liquid damage of any kind is not covered by the warranty, so a waterproof protector is a smart, inexpensive add-on.
Choosing a mattress
Which firmness should I choose?
Side sleepers usually like medium to plush, back sleepers medium to medium firm, and stomach sleepers firmer. Heavier sleepers often prefer a bit firmer and thicker. Our comparison chart lists every mattress, and John is happy to help: text 805-617-6878.
What is the difference between all-foam and hybrid?
All-foam mattresses hug more and isolate motion well. Hybrids add a layer of pocketed coils under the foam for more bounce, airflow and edge support.
What does copper or gel in the foam do?
Gel and copper infusions are used in the comfort layer to help move heat away and keep the surface feeling more temperature neutral. Many of our mattresses also use air-channel or Air Grid base foams for airflow.
Will my mattress work on an adjustable base?
Yes. Our memory foam and hybrid mattresses are made to flex with an adjustable base.
What is the new-foam smell?
A mild, non-toxic "new" smell for a day or two is normal. Let the mattress air out for about 24 hours before putting sheets on.
Adjustable bases
Will an adjustable base fit my bed frame?
Most of our bases fit inside a standard bed frame, and the newer zero-clearance bases (SBKD3, SBKDP2, SBKDG2, SBKDL2) can sit on a platform with no legs. Measure the inside of your frame and text John if you are unsure.
What is a split king?
Two Twin XL bases side by side (80" x 76" total) so each person controls their own side. You can use two Twin XL mattresses or one king split-top mattress. The bases can be synced with a cable.
Is assembly hard?
No tools are needed for most bases: they fold in half for shipping, you unfold them, attach the legs and plug in.
What if the power goes out?
Most of our bases have a battery backup strip so you can return the base to flat.
About MimiJohn
Who are you?
MimiJohn is Mimi and John Venti, a husband-and-wife team. A big website with a personal touch: John answers calls and texts himself.
How can you sell the same quality for less?
Our mattresses and bases are made by the same established manufacturer that supplies brand-name stores. We have no showroom, no big ad budget and no free-return program priced into every sale, so we can charge less. Read Why our prices are lower.
What does "Regular" price mean on your site?
It is the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) for that item, shown for comparison. Our price is what you actually pay, with free shipping included.
