Mattress 10-year limited warranty
Your mattress is warranted to be free from defects in workmanship and materials and to stay serviceable under normal use for the warranty period, starting on the date of delivery, subject to the limitations below.
The warranty covers:
- Breakdown in the cell structure of the foam that causes a visible indentation deeper than three-quarters (3/4) of an inch, as long as it is not caused by a sag in the foundation, slats, box spring, or platform.
- Any physical flaw that causes the material to split or crack despite normal use and proper handling.
Mattresses meet the federal flammability (open flame) standards in 16 CFR Parts 1632 and 1633.
Mattress cover
The mattress cover is warranted to be free from defects in materials or workmanship for two (2) years from the date of purchase under normal care and use. This warranty does not cover fading, pilling, or shrinkage, and it does not apply if the cover is soiled or unsanitary.
Liquid damage and mattress protectors
Liquid damage of any kind is not covered. We recommend a waterproof mattress protector to keep spills out of the mattress, but you are not required to use one. Not using a protector will not void your warranty. If a spill happens, remove the cover right away and let the area dry before putting the cover back on.
What the mattress warranty does not cover
- Products that are physically damaged, burned, cut, torn, stained, soiled, or unsanitary, or that failed because of misuse or abuse
- Damage to the outer fabric of the cover, including wear and tear
- Commercial use
- Claims without proof of purchase
- A mattress that doesn’t meet your comfort preference
- Use on a frame or bed rails without a continuous, solid support surface. The mattress is designed for a firm, solid surface on a base strong enough to support the mattress and its users.
- Mold. A mattress should never get wet or be kept somewhere with very high humidity.
- Suitability for any medical condition, or protection against bacteria, viruses, or other organisms
- Normal wear and tear, including normal softening of the foam or loss of elasticity. Slight body impressions are normal. They mean the mattress is adjusting to your body and are not a manufacturer defect.
- Merchandise bought used, secondhand, or distressed, or from someone other than the original retail purchaser
- Removing the law label voids the warranty.
Not following the manufacturer’s use and care instructions may void the limited warranty.
Adjustable base 10-year limited warranty
- Full 1-year warranty: For one year from the date of purchase, any part with a defect in materials or workmanship will be repaired or replaced at no cost to the original purchaser. This includes all authorized labor and transportation costs.
- 2-year motor warranty: If a motor fails within two years of the original purchase date, it is fully replaced, including parts, labor, and transportation.
- Years 2–5: Any defective bed part will be replaced for the original purchaser. You must return the defective part within fourteen (14) days of receiving the replacement, or you may be charged for the part, including freight. Coverage is limited to replacement parts only. You pay all service, installation, and transportation costs.
- Years 6–10: Any defective bed part will be replaced. You pay 1/180 of the part’s current replacement cost for each month past the fifth (5th) year from the original purchase date. This covers replacement parts only. You may be charged for the part, including freight, and you pay all service, installation, and freight costs.
Weight limits
The recommended weight limit is 750 lbs for most models, including the mattress and users. Some models have a lower limit (for example, 700 lbs for the MMKDH adjustable base); check the product page for your model. Exceeding the recommended weight limit may void your warranty.
What the adjustable base warranty does not cover
The warranty does not pay for inconvenience, removal, installation, setup, loss of use, shipping, or any other costs it does not expressly cover. It does not apply to:
- Damage from misuse or abuse by the purchaser
- Damage from repairs or part replacements by an unauthorized person
- A base that has been mishandled (including during shipping), physically abused, connected to an improper power supply, or used in a way that doesn’t follow the owner’s manual and warranty
- Damage to mattresses, bedding, cables, electrical cords, or accessories supplied by dealers
- Changes made to the base without the manufacturer’s prior written consent
- Unauthorized service calls to show you how to use the base or to find a working power outlet
- Use over the recommended weight limit
- Commercial use, or use in an environment the base was not designed for
High-low lift bases (SBLB): These are not meant to replace a medical or hospital bed. Using one that way voids the warranty. Any changes to the lift base handrails void the warranty.
Our manufacturer’s adjustable base warranty is valid in the 48 contiguous states. If you live in Alaska or Hawaii, please contact us before ordering an adjustable base.
Pillow limited warranty (3 years; Essentials Dual Air-Foam Pillow 1 year)
Your pillow is guaranteed to return to its original shape, or it will be replaced. The manufacturer is not responsible for damage caused by improper care or handling. Pillows must be returned with the original dated proof of purchase, as directed by MimiJohn LLC. You pay all transportation costs.
Mattress protector and pillow protector 5-year limited warranty
Protectors have a 5-year limited warranty. This warranty does not cover fading, ripping, pilling, or shrinkage, and it does not apply if the item is unsanitary. If identical materials are not available, the manufacturer may substitute materials of equal or greater quality. You are responsible for returning the product, and you pay all transportation costs.
Bed frame and foundation 1-year limited warranty
If your bed frame or foundation develops a defect from faulty workmanship or structural defects during the warranty period, it will be replaced, at the manufacturer’s option, at no cost to you. This does not apply to defects caused by misuse or neglect. If identical materials are not available, materials of equal or greater quality may be substituted. You are responsible for returning the product, and you pay all transportation costs.
How to file a warranty claim
- Contact MimiJohn LLC by phone/text at 805-617-6878 or email help@mimijohn.com. Include your order number, a description of the problem, photos of the problem and of the law label, and measurements where relevant (for example, a photo of a mattress indentation with a straightedge laid across it and a ruler showing its depth). We cannot verify a claim without your order number, photos, and any measurements we request.
- Have your proof of purchase ready. A receipt, canceled check, or other acceptable document works. Warranty coverage is for the original purchaser only.
- Keep the law label attached to the product. It shows the date of manufacture, and both proof of purchase and the date of manufacture are required. Removing the law label voids the warranty.
- Do not send anything back until we contact you. Once the claim is verified, the product will be repaired or replaced at the manufacturer’s option. If identical materials are not available, materials of equal or greater quality may be used.
- Except where a warranty above says otherwise (such as the full 1-year adjustable base warranty), you are responsible for returning the product and you pay all transportation costs.
The manufacturer may refuse service if the product or cover is physically damaged, burned, cut, torn, stained, soiled, or unsanitary, or if it failed because of misuse or abuse.
Your legal rights
All implied warranties are limited to the length of the applicable limited warranty unless federal or state law requires otherwise. Some states do not allow limits on how long an implied warranty lasts, or the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so these limits may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary from state to state.
